Love it all. Can certainly admit their jams were far superior in the 70's as opposed to the 90's but I can find beauty in even a '95 show.

Even love Vince. Keith is my favorite by far, but dug what Brent had to offer as well. As a piano player myself, I can't understand all the Vince bashing--the guy definitely had talent whether you liked his contributions or not.

The only thing about the Dead I can consistently complain about is Donna. I'm not gonna bash her or anything because in interviews I've read she seems like a good person, but I simply do not care for her vocals. But I can still listen to any show she was a part of because the songs themselves were outstanding, and their musicianship in the 70's was really outstanding.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones to like all eras of GD, because that just means there is that much music out there to enjoy.

Well for me it begins and ends with Vince's sound, and his apparent lack of a good musical ear.
So many many times I've heard him ruin songs (for me anyway and DH friends of mine) soley based on the sounds coming from his keys. They so often didn't fit the music, or just sounded kind of goofy.
I wont even get started on his voice and his lead vocals on tunes like "Samba in the rain"

He very well may could have been the best pianist of all the Deads keyboardists,...and if that were the case, its a damn shame that he didnt just play piano, and at most sang backup on some tunes.

I don't really listen to the 90's unless I am extremely bored but I have enjoyed this show quite often in the past:

Vince only plays piano{{{and none of his silly synth stuff (which I hear was actually the sound guy patching in at the board!!!)}}} and he really gives a nice sound to the acoustic band. Jerry's kind of in rough shape but the overall feel of the show is intimate and fun :)

I agree. There isn't a show I've listened to that I haven't found some nugget of gold in. I also agree on the Donna comment. I never thought her vocal really complemented the other singers... I also think that Hornsby was the best, even though he was never "official"...
